I have inherited a painting from the Dutch side of my family. It has been in the family since at least pre WWII. My mother gave it to me several years ago and only said that it was a copy of a more famous Dutch artist and that this artist became famous for his copies. I thought at first it was the fellow who copied Vermeer, but now I doubt it. It is signed J Veerman, or perhaps Veirman. The second e is a little thin. My mother is now deaf and has dementia and cannot answer my questions. I need to figure out just what this painting is worth for insurance purposes. Can anybody help or direct me to an appropriate place to identify this painting? I would appreciate any help that is out there.
Thanks, Tony |
